John Denver became a star through the folk-inspired songs that he wrote, many of which are situated in Colorado. When you encounter people from other nations, for instance New Zealanders and tell them "I come from Colorado" then they immediately reply with Oh John Denver. Brown stated. Denver's first Top 10 hit as a solo artist following a brief time in folk group comprised of Take Me Home Country Roads co-written with Bill Danoff. Danoff created the track with Johnny Cash in mind but when Denver saw an early rendition immediately, he realized the song could be an instant hit. A few days after performing to an excited audience at Washington D.C., the performer recorded the track.
