John Denver became a star through the folk-inspired songs that he wrote, many of them situated in Colorado. Born Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. in Roswell New Mexico, the singer-songwriter fell in the love of Colorado and later moved to Aspen. Denver's anthems for his adopted state has drawn a lot of people to Colorado. G. Brown of Colorado Music Hall of Fame, the director of this hall of fame, stated: "I don't believe there anyone else who has as much a connection to Colorado as John Denver." Denver is the Hall of Fame's initial inductee, was honoured with this honor in 2011. Denver is today the international face of Colorado. In my journeys, you meet someone from the other end of the planet, one from New Zealand and you say 'I'm of Colorado and the first word that comes they say is"Oh John Denver! Brown stated. Take Me Home Country Roads written by co-writer Bill Danoff - was Denver's first Top 10 single as a solo artist following a short time in small folk groups. Danoff created the track in conjunction with Johnny Cash in mind but the moment Denver was introduced to an earlier version it was clear that the track could become a hit single. A few days after singing to an enthusiastic crowd on the streets of Washington D.C., the artist recorded the song.
